Apexstone material brief
Calacatta White Marble Countertops & Islandsands
A successful Calacatta White countertop begins as a coordinated drawing exercise. Vein movement, appliance centres, seam positions and waterfall returns must be settled together before the first cut.
Start with the room, not a standard rectangle
Send the cabinet plan, site template, sink and cooktop models, tap centres, overhangs and access route. Common perimeter depths are 600-650 mm (24-26 in), while islands are project-specific. Reference thicknesses are 20 mm (about 3/4 in) and 30 mm (about 1-1/4 in). A mitred edge can create a deeper visual profile without treating the entire piece as a solid thick slab.
Production manager view: protect the design during nesting
The production discussion should begin with a marked slab image. Place the island first, reserve companion areas for waterfall legs or a full-height backsplash, and then nest smaller perimeter pieces. Keep strong grey veins away from fragile sink rails unless that placement has been engineered and accepted. Where two parts meet, show the intended direction on the shop drawing rather than relying on installers to decide on site.
Island and waterfall coordination
A waterfall is a three-dimensional joint, not simply an extra rectangle. The visible top-to-leg transition depends on slab yield, vein direction, mitre geometry, cabinet squareness and floor level. Confirm the finished height, end-panel thickness, shadow gap and whether the waterfall reaches the floor before approving the cut list.
Cut-outs, edges and the drawing freeze
CNC machining follows the approved template. Provide manufacturer drawings for sinks, cooktops and tapware; do not infer a cut-out from the product name. Define polished internal edges, corner radii, drainer grooves and support requirements. Any change after cutting can shift a seam or leave too little stone at a narrow rail.
- Confirm finished dimensions in millimetres and inches on the sign-off set.
- Identify every exposed edge and every wall-side scribe allowance.
- State the sealer responsibility and required finish sample.
- Number pieces in installation order.
Quality check before packing
Dry-check the set against the drawing: overall dimensions, diagonal or squareness references, cut-out centres, edge direction, vein continuity and piece labels. Inspect the surface under even light and photograph the completed set. The process image below is mapped as countertop slab cutting, not a generic factory placeholder.
Care expectations for the owner
Calacatta White is calcite marble. It can etch when acids contact the surface and can stain if spills remain. A sealer helps manage absorption but does not make marble acid-proof. Use pH-neutral cleaner, wipe wine, citrus and oil promptly, and use boards and trivets. Choose natural Calacatta for authentic variation and accept the patina; choose another material if zero visible change is the governing requirement.
Why Apexstone for this configuration
This page combines three Apexstone topics: production-manager drawing control, product-specific inspection and installer hand-off. Apexstone has worked with international stone supply since 2002, with stone-industry access in Shuitou and logistics through Xiamen. The practical value is coordination across slab selection, CNC work, inspection photos, piece marking and packing—not a promise that natural marble will look identical from one block to another.
Approve the vein map before the toolpath
Send cabinet and appliance drawings, finish, thickness, edge profile and destination. Request the actual-slab layout and resolve every cut-out and seam before fabrication release.
Approval continuity
Keep the approved actual-stone images, drawing revision, dimensions, finish sample and piece schedule together. The receiving and installation teams should compare the delivered work with the same project-specific evidence used at release.

The finished island is only one frame in the decision. Cutting, sink machining, edge finishing and inspection determine whether the approved vein map survives fabrication.
